Alberta Mae McDermott, aged 94, passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday, February 10, 2025, at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania. She was born on May 22, 1930, to Albert Carl Zimmerman and Mary Elizabeth Smith in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. After her parents passed away, Alberta was raised in an orphanage alongside her late sister, Janet Ellis.

Upon finishing high school, Alberta moved to Philadelphia, where she was employed by Bell Telephone as a long-distance telephone operator. Shortly after her arrival, she met the love of her life, her late husband, Vincent McDermott, with whom she raised her family.

Alberta was a voracious reader, a caring friend, and a devoted and selfless parent and grandparent. She was independent and had a passion for exploring new places. Later in life, after reconnecting with her late sister, the two bonded over their shared interest in uncovering
their family history and genealogy.

Alberta is preceded in death by her great-grandchild, Ryan Mulholland. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Clarke, and her two children, Lisa Witherspoon and Jennifer Clarke; her son, Wane McDermott, and his two children, Alyssa McDermott and Wayne McDermott.

Relatives and friends are invited to Alberta's interment at 1 PM on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Park, located at 333 County Line Rd, Huntingdon Valley, PA.
