Obituary of Anthony DiMarco
Anthony John "Tony" DiMarco, passed away on October 7, 2014. He was 90 years old. He was born to the late Antonio and Angela Rose DiMarco (nee Morozzi) on May 7, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA. He was a longtime resident of Feasterville, PA and Ocean City, NJ. He was the beloved husband of the late Rose DiMarco (nee Benedetto) for 65 years. Anthony was a World War II Army Veteran where he served in the 79th Field Artillery, and was awarded five battle stars and proudly fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Upon his return, he entered into the Building business with his brother, John. He was a pioneer in the development of Hundreds of townhouses and row homes in Northeast Philadelphia and went on to build over 4,000 apartments in both Philadelphia and New Jersey. He was the first builder to use manufactured trusses and pneumatic mailing guns. He was known for his incredible efficiency in building these residences. After construct-concrete foundations, he would time precisely when it would cure to immediately begin framing of the homes. This system insured that he could complete a development in record. he was known to secure a construction loan with a bank in the morning and later that day be seen on a bulldozer digging foundations. His grandchildren and their friends considered it an honor to work with him in his "school of hard knocks". His affectionate ways and sense of humor made everyone enjoy the achievements of an "honest day's work". Most of his apprentices echo his work ethic in their own stories. He taught people how to work in a way that inspired them to feel a sense of accomplishment,enjoy hard work and lead successful lives. He enjoyed dancing and travelling with his beloved, Rose. Together they were an inspiration and delight to all who knew them. He enjoyed sharing the many humorous and interesting experiences though his great story telling. His legacy lives on in his undying affection of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Anthony gave generously of his time as a member of: The Knights of Columbus (4th degree), the Lions Club, Sons of Italy and the American legion. He was the loving father of three children: Anthony (Skip) R. DiMarco, The late Russell DiMarco,(August 20, 1997), and Rose Carbonara (Michael). He was an amazing grandfather to Anthony Christian DiMarco (Brooke), Brooke DiMarco, Michael Anthony Carbonara and Nicholas Russell Carbonara; great grandfather to Anthony Christian DiMarco and Emilia DiMarco, brother of the late John DiMarco, Rita Centinero and Elizabeth Reale, and is survived by Rosalie DiPaul.
