Bette Sauerwald, age 103 of Philadelphia, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA to the late Paul and Alma (Kirkwood) Von-Langer. Bette was a strong woman during her life, she was a factory worker in an assembly plant for Bachman Plastics for over 25 years before her retirement.
During her spare time, Bette was an amazing dancer. She was dancing up until she was 95 years old. She enjoyed dancing, socializing and had many, many friends. Her magnetic personality made her the Belle of Ball wherever she went.
Mrs. Sauerwald is predeceased by her parents, siblings, devoted husband of 19 years, Joseph Sauerwald, and cherished daughter, Dolores Scalise; as well as her faithful and special friend, Edward Brown.
Bette is survived by her loving children, Andrew M. Gurcules, Mark Sauerwald; Daughter-in-law, Tanya Sauerwald; cherished grandchildren, Len, Victor, and Jason Scalise; and precious great-grandchildren, Selena and Justin Scalise; as well as several nieces and nephews to share fond memories.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bette's visitation from 10 – 11 AM at Kirk and Nice Suburban Chapel on Friday, February 21, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM followed by Bette being laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bette's name may be made to the American Cancer Society. https://www.cancer.org/
