IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Jane
Keeney
January 25, 1930 – February 8, 2023
Betty Jane Keeney, 93, passed peacefully on Wednesday, Feb 8, 2023, in her home in Peachtree City, GA. Daughter of the Late Sam L. McLaughlin and Clara Evans McLaughlin, she is predeceased by her loving husband, John Patrick Keeney Sr., and her daughter Donna Ann Hawthorne. She is survived by her loving children, John Jr., his wife Diane (McAlister) Keeney, Linda, her husband Philip Maucieri, and Patty Keeney; her grandchildren, Walt, Tim, John III, Christine, April, Katelyn, Philip, Kimberly, and Keenan; Plus 12 loving Great-Grandchildren.
Probably what Betty will be most remembered for was that she loved & cared for others, and was loved by so many!
In her youth, Betty was an accomplished basketball player, bowler, golfer, swimmer and lifeguard. She loved outdoor activities like camping, and her most favorite activity was playing cards. She graduated from Kensington High School in 1948, worked for Hancock Insurance, met and married
the love of her life, John Sr. until 1990 when he passed.
Shortly after John's passing, Betty became a part-time door greeter at a local Walmart in Philadelphia, knew the customers personally & stayed for 12 years until age 80!!! Never afraid of change and ready to begin another chapter of her life, she moved to Peachtree City, GA and adopted a puppy. Always the "people person", Betty developed deep friendships with her neighbors & church family. Plus, she created a card club with the neighbors, which fostered a caring sense of community with each other. Betty centered her life around being the "best" possible mother and grandmother any family could hope for, and was lovingly considered the family Monarch before her passing. She will be deeply missed by all, and the world was certainly a better place with her in it!
