Today we lost the leader of our family. Wilmer Kensy Hazel Jr. "Bill" passed away at the age of 92 on May 25th, 2022. He was the son of Ethel Becker and Wilmer Kensy Hazel Sr. He was born in the Germantown section of Philadelphia and grew up in the Kensington neighborhood. He was one of six children. He served in the U.S. Army as a private in the Supply Sector during the Korean war. Stationed in Seattle he met his wife of 58 years Beverly Hazel. (née Olson) who preceded him in death. They had four children: Debra Hazel Coates (Thomas) Steven Hazel (Jo-Dina), Sharon Hazel Connelly (Kevin), Kevin Hazel. Bill is survived by his grandchildren: Christopher Coates, Christine Hazel, Nicholas Coates, Stephanie Hazel, Michael Hazel, Steven Hazel, Scott Coates, Shawn Coates, Dana Coates, Kelly Connelly, Jeremy Coates and 15 Great Grandchildren.

He was very creative and loved working with his hands. Bill was also a people person and this sparked his career in Supermarket management. Always a pillar of positivity with a smile that was contagious. Forever the charmer, had the perfect compliment to brighten your day. His words of encouragement made every individual feel special and that will never be forgotten. He never missed a birthday and is the only person I know that could pull off using the terms "dizzy broad" and "gorgeous" in the same sentence . He was full of life, wisdom, charisma and sheer confidence. Philly lost a true sports fan this year. He watched the Phillies religiously regardless of their record. Bill was also an ocean lover, spending many summers with his children on the beaches of Atlantic City.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a memorial visitation on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 10:30am-12:00pm at Kirk and Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 W. County Line Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. A funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 12:00pm.
