Obituary

William ("Bill") John Rose III, passed away on December 15th, 2021 at 89 years of age after a brief illness unrelated to the pandemic.

Bill was born October 14, 1932 to William John Rose, Jr. and Grace Magsam Rose. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by Janet Tyger Rose, his wife of 45 years. He is survived by his children William, Geoffrey (Katherine), and Beth (Eric Neiderman), along with six grandchildren (Em, Sarah, Michael, John, Benjamin, and DaShawn).

After graduation from Olney High School and then serving in the US Navy, he embarked on a long career in the construction flooring industry. He spent most of his career with Drehmann Paving and Flooring Co, and he valued the opportunity this work afforded him to travel and work closely with so many at every level of the industry. In his work he formed many relationships and friendships that endured throughout his retirement. His ability to connect with others also defined his life outside of work; he possessed that rare gift of being able to make friends with all he met, no matter their job, position, or title. He had a way of always making you feel welcome, and this is why he will be missed by so many.

Bill was an avid reader, golfer, and card player. He loved talking about movies, politics, and sports (especially the Phillies). He enjoyed attending the theater and gathering with friends for a good meal and conversation.

A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park, where he will be interred beside his beloved Janet. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory can be sent to The First Tee Foundation, The Walnut Street Theater Angels Fund, or Reading Is Fundamental.
