Obituary

Carlo Leone, 83 died peacefully in his sleep on November 10, 2018.  His death was unexpected as Carlo was in good health but we find peace in knowing God called him home in His perfect time and in a beautiful way.

Carlo was born on 04/04/1935 in Naples, Italy to parents Giulio and Costanza Leone. He was one of 9 children and a loving brother to his siblings. He served as a constable and was known for being brave, fair and just.

Carlo met his future wife Paolina Rebessi in Italy; together they immigrated to America and were married. They were blessed with 3 children: Ernesto, Cynthia and Raffaella who blessed him with a beautiful granddaughter Yvonne. As a Father Carlo was loving, stern, and very encouraging – he instilled courage, strength, and the confidence that anything was possible.

One of his favorite sayings was, "there's always another way and there is always another day. Never give up. " We will always remember his positivity and bright hope for the future.  He was the best Papa ever.

Carlo lived the American Dream - he was very hard working and an excellent provider for his family and those he loved. He was a very successful restaurant owner, real estate investor and entrepreneur - he owned Angelo's Pizza, a landmark in Feasterville for many years as well as John's Café and Angelo's Tomato Grill. He helped many immigrants find legal employment at his restaurants and provided them with housing (often out of his own pocket) and paved their way to citizenship.  He is also credited with many people falling in love and getting married – all employees of his restaurants.

Carlo was a former athlete who played competitive soccer well into his 50's. He remained an avid soccer fan until the day he died, and a huge fan of his hometown soccer team. Forza Napoli!

In his youth Carlo was fearless and fought for what he felt was just. His fighting spirit helped him overcome many challenges, including surviving hunger and poverty caused by the bombardment of his city during WW2, and moving to America to start a new life. As he matured, he became more sensitive and increasingly more at peace. In his final years he was very close to God and to those he loved. He experienced an incredible spiritual transformation from his youth to his death and he was at peace both before and after he died.

He is remembered for his generosity, forgiveness and kind loving spirit. He was very giving and felt compelled to help anyone in need -- without judgment or expectation for anything in return.

Carlo was deeply loved by his entire family, his friends and all those who knew him - both here and in Italy. We are all heartbroken over the loss of this beautiful man – we will miss his big expressive eyes, infectious laugh, gregarious smile and deep loving soul.

Carlo Leone was one of a kind - special and irreplaceable. Like a fine wine…he just kept getting better with age. Weh, guagliò- chiù bel' e te non c'è nisciuno.
