IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Catherine F.
Lipshutz
August 12, 1919 – October 20, 2021
Catherine F. Lipshutz (Procopio) passed away peacefully from complications from End-Stage Alzheimer's at the age of 102 on October 20, 2021, at Rose Garden Nursing Home at Ann's Choice Retirement Community in Warminster, PA. "Aunt Kay," as she was called by everyone, was born in 1919 and raised in South Philadelphia. Her father, Saverio, died early and her widowed mother, Philomena (Briglia), deceased, raised Kay and her beloved brothers, Samuel, Frank, Anthony, and Dominick, now all deceased as well.
Fiercely independent, she worked at Fox Cleaners in Southwest Philadelphia, and along with her brothers, Sam and Frank, at Frank's Beverages in South Philadelphia. She survived the 1919 flu epidemic, the Great Depression, and today's COVID 19 pandemic. She even flew to California on one of American Airlines' first roundtrip transcontinental flights in a jet in 1959. Both she and her late husband, Harry, who died in 1984, loved traveling to Atlantic City and enjoyed walking the boardwalk. They were also long-time residents of Bakers Bay Condominium, having moved there in 1975 where she was an officer in the Civic Association and chaired many committees, and worked weekends at the Clubhouse for many years. Kay also traveled to Europe and visited France, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, and her beloved Italy. Later she moved to Ann's Choice in 2005 where she volunteered and remained active.
She enjoyed the painting classes there and became quite good at it. She lived at Ann's Choice Retirement Community independently until she transitioned to assisted living, and eventually, nursing care. But above all, she always enjoyed being with family for the holidays and special occasions.
Kay is survived by her nieces, Phyllis Procopio, Diane Voghel (Procopio), Francine Caldwell (Procopio), Michele Stewart (Procopio), Ronnie Impagliazzo (Procopio), Sondra Lacavitas (Procopio), and nephews, Richard Procopio and Arthur Procopio (deceased), as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Kay will be private under the direction of Kirk and Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 W County Line Road Huntingdon Valley PA. Mausoleum entombment will also be private at Sunset Memorial Park, 333 W County Line Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Ann's Choice Benevolent Fund, 20000 Ann's Choice Way, Warminster, PA. 18974.
