Obituary

Charles Carter, age 93, of Furlong, Pennsylvania passed peacefully on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Doris R. Carter, nee Tinker, and his three devoted children, Charles E. Carter, of Glassboro, New Jersey, Debra L. (Michael) Herbut, of Warminster, Pennsylvania, and Christine D. (Perry) Mecutchen of Furlong, Pennsylvania.  He will be missed by his loving grandchildren, Melissa (Amanda), Stephen (Corinne), Chuck, Jonathan, Dakota and Chase.  Predeceased by his loving grandson, Paul.

Charlie was a long time member of Scottsville United Methodist Church, where he and his wife were active in Adult Fellowship Group.  Formerly a resident of Feasterville and North Wales, Pennsylvania, and in Panama Canal Zone, where he served his country in the United States Army as a cook.  He later developed a passion for, and excelled at, cooking and made sure everyone was well fed.  He was known for his cooking skills in church at Sunday Breakfast in their Fellowship Hall, and our annual family seafood cookout.

Charlie was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, an excellent pinochle player and a passionate member of SPEBSQSA/Barbershop Chorus.  Charlie was a dedicated Sears employee for 30 years.  He loved Cape May and Ocean City, New Jersey and was an active member of Bodners Social Club on Torresdale Avenue, Philadelphia.  Charlie was a cancer survivor and many other medical conditions and took comfort during those difficult times in the Lord and his family.

Charlie will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Services will be held for Charlie at 10:30 am, on Tuesday, August 8th at Scottsville United Methodist Church, 2400 Brownsville Road, Langhorne, PA19053.  Family and friends are invited to gather at 10:00 am prior to service.
