Obituary

Dorothy "Dottie" M. Walton passed away suddenly but peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2020 at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Dorothy, and brother Paul Jr.

Dottie was born in Philadelphia, PA. Her passion for sports and education led her to a fulfilling 42 year career with the School District of Philadelphia as a teacher, administrator, coach, and mentor. She inspired hundreds of high school athletes during her coaching years in field hockey, softball, basketball, and track and field. Dottie was a prominent figure in Philadelphia high school sports.

She loved to play golf, ski, and to travel. In her later years, nothing made her smile more than vacationing with her family, singing along to Songs of Faith by Elvis, playing electronic games, and making her weekly breakfast trip to Perkins. Dottie was loved by all who knew her – she was larger than life and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by life-long partner, Carol Griffin, and family, Eileen O'Neill, Ray Griffin (Rosemary), nieces , Caryn O'Neill (Ed), Denise Kirk (Jim) and Jennifer Simes (Allen), and nephews, William O'Neill (Terry), Keith Griffin (Adrienne), and Paul III. Also survived by great-nieces and nephews, Griffin, Jacob, Bridget, Elizabeth, Samantha, Gavin, Patrick, Brian, Emily, and Rayna, and great-great niece, Hope, as well as her pen pal, Wilbur, and many close friends.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. Contributions in her honor can be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church, 620 Welsh Road, Horsham, PA 19044.

"There is peace in the valley for me now."
