E. Frank Muggler, D.O., age 90 of Warminster, Pa and formerly of Willow Grove, passed away on December 15, 2016. He was born in Philadelphia, and grew up in the "Fishtown" section of Philadelphia. His father had emigrated from the village of Fehraltdorf, near Zurich, Switzerland and his mother had emigrated from the Rheinpfalz area of Germany. At 17, Dr. Muggler was enrolled at the Virginia Military Institute under the Army A - 12 program, after which he was called into active military service. After basic training, he was sent to the European Theatre of World War II.While fighting as a member of the 63rd Infantry Division, he was wounded toward the last days of the war and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. Dr Muggler returned home in 1946 and continued his education and eventually graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1953. After 35 years of family practice in northeastern Philadelphia, Dr. Muggler retired. In retirement he has enjoyed hobbies such as singing in choral groups, traveling abroad with his wife Ruth, doing volunteer work for his church and writing creative articles including poetry. Dr. Muggler is survived by his wife Ruth ( nee Wolf ), his children , Lori Ojeda ( Aurelio ) and David F. Muggler ( fiancee Tricia ), grandchildren, Paul Ojeda ( Kate), Dr. Jason Ojeda ( Jacinda), Christopher Ojeda ( Colleen ), Christopher Muggler and Corey Muggler, his great grandchildren, Alma, Sophia, Elias, Eliana and Petra, his sister, Elizabeth M. MacFarland, brother - in - law, Paul Wolf ( Ilsa) two nephews, Ed (Linda ) and Glenn MacFarland and relatives in Germany and Switzerland. Dr. Muggler was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter , Margaret Lynne Muggler. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, 10 am at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 14100 Worthington Rd. ( Southampton Rd. ) Philadelphia, Pa 19116, where Dr. Muggler's life will be celebrated at 11 am. Final services will be private.
