IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward P.
Blizzard
May 6, 1948 – March 19, 2025
Edward P. Blizzard, a devoted husband, father, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 76 years old.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Loretta, and his cherished daughter, Shae-Lynn, who was the light of his life. He also leaves behind his daughter's boyfriend, Vila, with whom he shared a mutual passion for discussing the stock market.
A dedicated serviceman, Ed honorably served in the United States Marine Corps and later as a U.S. Army Reservist. His commitment to service extended to his career with the Philadelphia Police Department, where he dutifully protected and served until his retirement in 1994. He was a proud member of VFW Post 20 and Masonic Lodge #9, where he formed lifelong friendships.
In retirement, Ed found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time in the Poconos, fishing and hunting with his closest friends. Friday night poker games with "the guys" were a weekly tradition he rarely missed. He also treasured day trips and dinners out with his beloved wife, Loretta.
Above all, Ed's greatest pride and joy was being a father. He never missed an opportunity to offer Shae-Lynn his signature "good ole' dad advice." A devoted dog lover, Ed was always eager to show off photos of his beloved German Shepherds, Nala and Ginger, as well as his daughter's puppy, Mango.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, March 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Kirk and Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 West County Line Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. A Memorial Service will follow at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, Ed's family kindly asks that donations be made in his memory to Alpha Bravo Canine (www.alphabravocanine.org) or Tails of Valor (www.tailsofvalor.org), two organizations that support the training of service dogs for veterans. Ed's legacy of love, loyalty, and service will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
