Edward J. "Mr. Ed" McLaughlin, Sr., of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, at the age of 82.

Born in Philadelphia to the late Douglas and Catherine (née Gallagher) McLaughlin.  He is survived by his sons, Edward J. McLaughlin, Jr. and Ryan McLaughlin, who will forever cherish his love, humor, and wisdom.  Ed is also survived by his sister Carol, and his brothers Douglas and Michael.  He is predeceased by his oldest sister Catherine, and her husband William, and his brother James, and his wife Candice.

Ed dedicated his life to service in his community.  He was a proud and longtime Supervisor with the Philadelphia Department of Recreation, where he spent decades supporting and guiding countless families and young people at Piccoli Park, Ferko Playground, and Palmer Playground. His presence, kindness, and steady leadership left a lasting mark on those who knew him.  Ed loved work and serving families in the Park and Rec. communities.

Relatives, friends, and all whose lives Ed touched are invited to his Funeral Mass on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Holy Innocents Church, 1337 Hunting Park Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19124 . A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, prior to Mass.

Ed will be remembered as a devoted father, a trusted mentor, and a true friend to his community.
