IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elaine A.
Pape
September 12, 1935 – May 17, 2024
Elaine Pape, known to many as Arlene, peacefully passed away in the early hours of Friday, May 17, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on September 12, 1935, in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, Arlene lived a full and joyous life surrounded by family and friends.
Arlene attended Mastbaum High School, where she used to dance at the rooftop gymnasium. She later went on to work as a dedicated billing clerk for Pendergast Safety Equipment Company.
Arlene was the beloved wife of the late Edward Pape, who preceded her in death in 2012 after being happily married for 56 years. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter. She is survived by her children: Donna Butler (Tom), Ken Pape (Kathe), and Lorie Pape. She was also a cherished sister to Carol Connelly (Bill) and her late brother Alfred Schneider. Arlene was affectionally known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren and "Ninny" to her great-grandchildren, with whom she shared her love for showtunes, the beach, and wonderful holiday traditions.
From a young age, Arlene found her greatest happiness down the shore in Townsends Inlet, where she enjoyed many a banana split.
She spent time traveling around the world with her husband, her dear friends, Dave and the late Peg Sander, and sister and brother-in-law.
Arlene's ability to bring joy to others was a true gift, and her memory will continue to bring smiles to those who knew and loved her.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her legacy of laughter and love lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Arlene's funeral service on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel.
A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Arlene's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of the Delaware Valley at www.alz.org
