Elmer Jacobs Jr. 91, of Northeast Philadelphia passed away on October 16, 2018 at Aria Hospital in Torresdale.  He was born to the late Elmer Sr, and Marie (Studnicky) Jacobs on February 5, 1927 in Philadelphia. Elmer graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School.  He served our country faithfully in the US Army during World War II in the clean up effort in Nuremberg, Germany. When he returned home he attended Temple University on the GI Bill. After working for companies such as Philco and Technitrol, he settled at the US Postal Service as a mechanic in the Bulk Mail Center until his retirement at the age of 73.

Elmer met and married Mary (McQuaid) on January 13, 1962.  They moved to Evans Street in Northeast Philadelphia where he lived until his death.  They both enjoyed visiting their mountain house in Kunkletown, PA and went every weekend for many years.  He enjoyed spending time outside mowing their property, tinkering in the garage, and remodeling his basement.  He also enjoyed traveling with his family to southern destinations such as Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head.

Elmer is survived by his loving wife Mary, and by his two sons Mark Jacobs and Craig Jacobs and his daughter Dawn Doheny; daughter-in-laws Maria (Turco) and Christine (Breeding); and son-in-law Bill Doheny. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Nicole Jacobs, Jessica Giammarinaro, Kimberly Jacobs, Billy Doheny, Keri Doheny, Claire Jacobs and Camille Jacobs. He is also survived by his loving cat Elliott.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gustav Jacobs.
