IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Emma L.
Schechtman
June 13, 1955 – May 8, 2020
Emma Schechtman, 64, passed away peacefully Friday, May 8, 2020, at Twining Village with her loving husband and son by her side. She was born June 13, 1955, and was the middle child of 3 daughters to the late Richard and Isabelle (Davenport) Stohrer. Emma was the loving wife of Fred Schechtman, devoted mother of Howard, caring sister to Roberta and Martha and many nieces and nephews.
A caring wife, mother, friend, and animal lover; Emma had a limitless well of compassion for her family, friends and was especially fond of cats. She always had a sweet smile, was extremely nice, caring, considerate to everyone, and a gentle soul. As smart as she was creative, Emma loved to sew, read, solve puzzles of all kinds, and go on walks while admiring nature. She was also very proud to be a regular American Red Cross blood donor.
Emma was a warm-hearted and proud mother to her son Howard. Always willing to spend time helping out with his schoolwork, projects, and enjoyed creating and sewing many amazing Halloween costumes. Emma supported her son's passions and did everything she could to support and contribute to his pursuits in life. Being a mother and with family was one of Emma's joys.
Emma earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Penn State University and completed the LOMA (Life Office Management Association) Financial Services education requirements and was designated a Fellow, Life Management Institute. She worked as a Project Manager for Penn Mutual Life Ins. for over 35 years and took great pride and dedication for her work. She was also awarded the monthly "Pride of Penn Mutual" many times throughout her professional career for her individual contribution and teamwork.
Emma and Fred had 34 wonderful years of marriage that were filled with much joy and happiness. Howie was her pride and joy and her family shared many wonderful events, celebrations, vacations, and adventures together. Being a close and devoted family was very important and always a priority for Emma. She was a beautiful person both inside and out and always had a strong but gentle demeanor. She had a sweet, soft-spoken, and quiet presence about her. At work, although things would happen that would make anyone else angry she would always handle it with calmness, grace, and understanding. Her good friend Jeanne had an accurate portrayal of Emma; she was like a butterfly, flying softly through life sharing joy and kindness. She will be missed and loved forever to her family and everyone who knew her.
A commemoration of Emma's life is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the LBDA (Lewy Body Dementia Association) or the Animal Welfare Institute.
