Eugene Dougherty, age 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday October 4th, after a courageous and unrelenting battle with cancer. Throughout his illness, he was comforted by the unwavering love, strength and support of his beloved children, who stood by him every step of the way.

Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Eugene Thomas and Martha Baillie (Tullis) Dougherty, Gene graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School class of 1968.

He joined the United States Navy in October of 1970. He was an Aviation ordnanceman until he was honorably discharged in October of 1976. From there he built a successful career in the printing industry.

Gene was a simple man. He was well known for his sense of humor, his booming voice, and his love for his family.

He enjoyed watching a nice sunrise/sunset, taking in a good thunderstorm, and truly enjoyed everything in nature. He loved watching all Philly sports. Above all else, spending time with his family was the most important thing to him.

Gene is survived by his children, Serena Savage and husband Frank of Levittown, PA, Ian Dougherty of Hatboro, PA, Shannon Nuneviller and husband Steven of Buckingham, PA, Ryan Dougherty and partner Amber Lawson of Landsdale, PA, his grandchildren Dylan, Michaela & Bryson Nuneviller, Kayla (Dylan & Weston), Noah, & Lily Nicol, and his siblings Katherine Boyle and husband Kenneth of Benton, PA, Anastasia Faber and husband David of Pendel, PA, Margaret Leddy of Bellefonte, PA, Preceded in death by his sister Elizabeth Garrity of Milroy, PA.

A memorial service will be held for Gene on Friday October 17th 2025 at Kirk and Nice suburban Chapel 333 West County Line Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006 from 10:00 to 11:30, when his memorial service will commence. Immediately following Gene will be escorted to his final resting place on the grounds of Sunset Memorial Park. Interment will be private.
