Obituary

Frank Oostdyk, age 85, of Bensalem, PA passed away on July 9, 2021 in Philadelphia.

Born on March 1, 1936 in Passaic, NJ, he was the son of the late Francis H. and Kathryn (Jellesma) Oostdyk.

Frank was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Frank was a member of the Greater Western Combine and Greater Philadelphia Clubs and developed many friendships, awards, and was an avid flier until the very end. His passion for pigeons started as a teenager watching his father, Frank Oostdyk, Sr. raise, breed, and train racing pigeons in their backyard. Over the years, this passion created life long relationships with those who shared the same passion and love for the sport and the pigeon itself.

Frank followed another family tradition as the owner and operator of a small trucking company.

Our hearts may be sad at the loss we feel, that is only sweetened by the thought of seeing him again with Our Heavenly Father in Glory! The best is yet to come!

Frank is survived by his children, Karen Oostdyk, Diane Bugey, Suzanne Oostdyk, Katherine Mills, and Connie Oostdyk. We cannot forget his beautiful grandchildren and great - grandchildren….14 in all!

Frank was the first one out once again! Ahead of his twin sister, Faith Buck and his siblings, William "Bill" Oostdyk, Curt Detwiller, and Kathy Pratt. His wife , Ana Zwiercan, remains behind with the pigeons and memories of him in their home together in Bensalem.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Frank's service with military honors and sharing of stories at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940 on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 1:00 PM. Please meet at the administration building inside the main entrance at 12:45 PM for the funeral escort.
