Gerald (Jerry) Joseph Lynch, 67, of Somerton PA died in peace, surrounded by his family, on November 19, 2021 at The Bridges at Warwick. Jerry was the beloved husband of Janet (Sorrentino) Lynch. Jerry was born in northeast Philadelphia PA on July 10, 1954 to the late Thomas and Joan (Kennedy) Lynch. He was a graduate of Archbishop Ryan. He worked for the Philadelphia Police Department for over 3 decades, reaching the rank of Homicide Detective, until he retired in 2009. He dedicated much of his life to protecting the City of Philadelphia. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, supporting his children's and grandchildren's sporting activities, spending time at the Philadelphia Quartett Club and visiting Aruba. Along with his wife, he is survived by his children Gerald J. Lynch, Jr. (Alicia), Robert T. Lynch (Beth); 6 grandchildren Aubrey, Colin, Giuliana, Kasey, Vincent, Kamryn; 3 brothers Thomas, Michael, Jack; 3 sisters Joan, Marie, and the late Katie, and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry's greatest joy was watching the growth and success of his children and grandchildren. He made sure all of them understood the importance of family, love, forgiveness, hard work and compassion.
Relatives, friends and members of FOP Lodge #5 are invited to pay respects and celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, November 23, 11:30am at St. Christopher Church, 13301 Proctor Road, Philadelphia, PA 19116. The visitation will be held at the church before mass from 9:30-11:30am. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Huntingdon Valley, PA.
