Obituary of Glenna Maust

Glenna May (Ward) Maust, of Hatboro, passed away on September 22, 2010 with her loving family by her side. She was 88. She was the wife of the late Henry Kulp Maust, Jr., and was a veteran of WWII, serving with the 276th Coast Artillery. Glenna was born on a bright and sunny morning on April 30, 1922, in Limestone Maine, to Frank Emery Ward and Muriel Louise (Grass) Ward, and was the second of eight children. She served in the Women's Army Corps (WAC), WWII, from 1943 through 1945. After graduating from the Army Finance School, Wake Forest, NC, she was stationed at Camp Butner, NC; in the Pacific at Oro Bay, New Guinea, Biak Island, Dutch New Guinea, and Manila, Phillippines. Glenna was a retired Civil Service employee who worked in both the Office of the Finance Director and the Office of the Quartermaster General, in Washington D.C. She later transferred to what was the formerly known as the old Quartermaster Depot, 20th and Oregon Sts., Philadelphia, PA which later became known as the Defense Personal Support Center (DPSC).

She worked in the Quartermaster Research and Development Division prior to it's present location in Natick, MA. She also worked in the U.S. Army Support Center and the Directorate of Subsistence as a Program Analyst/Cataloger. There is a quote by Rudyard Kipling, "Teach us delight in the simple things" and that's exactly what she did for everyone she came in contact with. To this day her children, and even grandchildren, still look at nature with awe at everything surrounding us, from the changing colors of leaves in the fall, flowers, hunting for unusual rocks and even seeing the first snowflake of the season. Mom had a quick wit and clever sense of humor, with always something funny to say in any given situation. Mom's joys in life were her family, writing letters, baking, gardening, books, chocolate and her home. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. Mom could bake anything sweet from cakes and pies to donuts and eclairs, was an avid gardener who could make anything grow, a voracious reader of the written word and a true lover of anything chocolate. She took great pride in her home and was constantly updating it by herself long before the "Do It Yourself" TV shows hit the airwaves. She was truly a woman ahead of her time and we have lost someone special in her passing. Surviving are her children, Randee M. Marshall and her husband, Kenneth, of Quakertown, Barry K. Maust of Hatboro, Rebecca W. McNamara and her husband Rick, of California, Muriel E. Maust and Douglas Juhasz, of Warminster, and John H. Maust of Hatboro; her two sisters, Lois Gene Ward of Limestone, ME, Theo Boston of CA; two brothers, Kent Ward of Limestone, ME, Hayes Ward and his wife Gayle of Livestone, ME; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services are private. She will be buried next to her late husband in Sunset Memorial Park, Feasterville, PA.
