Obituary of Grace Smith

Grace J. (Zitnik) Smith, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 at the Masonic Village in Warminster. She was 93.

Born in Chicago on July 12, 1920, Grace was the daughter of James and Bessie Zitnik. She attended high school in Chicago before joining the U.S. Navy prior to World War II. Grace trained as a Navy radio operator at the University of Wisconsin, and then joined the war effort in 1941. Grace remained in the Navy until 1945. Grace held various positions at Solid State Equipment Corporation, Pilling Surgical Instruments, and Eastern Rotorcraft companies until her retirement in 1986. In her spare time, Grace enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing Solitaire, reading, and spending time with her family. As the holiday season approaches, the family remembers how much joy it brought her to see the lights on the Christmas tree.

Grace had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1939.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Samuel C. Smith, two children, Janet and Samuel, and one grandson, Marco. She will be deeply missed, as her compassion and love greatly touched all who knew her.
