Pennsylvania auto Magnate, Esteemed WW II Veteran

Herbert C. Reedman, Sr., of Bellair, FL., (formerly of Langhorne, PA) passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2016. He was 93.

Born on the Reedman family farm in Bristol, PA, he was the son of the late Ralph R. Sr., and Elsie Metzger Reedman. He was the brother of the late Harold F. Reedman, Sr., Bernard S. Reedman, Sr., Ralph R. Reedman, Sr., and Edna Colcough. He has been a resident of Bellair for the past 10 years.

Herb was a D-Day survivor and decorated veteran of WW II with two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and five Battle Stars. A member of the 8th Infantry ( Pathfinders), he saw extensive action in the European Theatre of Operations. He was a member of the Largo American Legion Post 0119, VFW Post 10304 and BPO Elks Largo Lodge 2159. Following his military service during WW II, he would often go on to say that what influenced his life most was the U.S. Army.

Known as a pioneer in the auto industry, Herb founded Reedman Auto World in Langhorne, PA with his brother Ralph after returning home from WW II in 1946. After selling a few cars from the front yard of his family's farm in Bristol, they moved to Langhorne where Herb and Ralph were eventually joined by their brothers, Harold, Thomas and Stanley. As they were affectionately referred to in the community, "The Reedman Brothers" went on to build Reedman World Auto Center into the largest dealership in the world at one location spanning more than 150 acres.

Herb is survived by his brother, Stanley Sr., his four children (Lindsay, Sandra, Herbert Jr., and James), 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. A daughter, Donna, was lost to breast cancer in 2010.

Family will receive guests on the evening of Monday, February 29, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at the Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 County Line Rd., Feasterville, PA, 19053 (on the grounds of Sunset Memorial Park), and again on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 10 to 11 am. A memorial service will follow at 11 am.
