Obituary

We announce with great sadness the passing of our beloved Irene Evans, she died peacefully on July 8, 2022 at 97 years of age.

Irene was born in Spangler, Pennsylvania to the late Lawrence and Ellen Walsh, the youngest of 11 children. As a close knit Irish Catholic family, she was raised by her older siblings after her mothers passing at the age of three, building a beautiful bond between siblings that lasted throughout her lifetime. Irene was a vibrant and tenacious spirit, enamored with dancing, music, and roller-skating in her teenage years. Joyously playing piano on stage in the community and dancing her way through her childhood with her siblings and friends. Her love of dancing on roller-skates lead to meeting the love of her life Dan Evans, who she spent 60 beautiful loving years with.

Irene had an adventurous life with her daughter Danielle in the WW2 era after her husband Dan was sent overseas in the war, moving with various relatives in Pennsylvania awaiting his return. After reuniting with her husband, they settled in Philadelphia where she became a secretary supporting Dan as he pursued his college education on the GI bill. They later settled in Feasterville, Pennsylvania where they continued to grow their family raising 5 loving children. Irene devoted her life to her family, providing not only a beautiful home but a place that was so inviting everyone wanted to be around her. She enjoyed the close-knit neighborhood of Pine Tree Farms, where neighbors became lifelong friends. Summers were spent at Somerton Springs Swim Club, Ladies Badminton Club and occasional short vacation trips to places like the Jersey shore.  She spent many years enjoying the Pocono mountains after the family bought a cabin in the 1960's creating a second home, and loving memories with close friends and family.

Irene's love of family made her an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and companion. Her loving, peaceful energy radiated to everyone around her, giving them a place to call home, whether family, friends, or neighbors. For decades she hosted Thanksgiving dinners, enjoyed by as many as two dozen family members at times. Her home was the scene of countless birthdays, graduations, christenings, wedding, baby showers and parties of all kinds. She made a home that was welcoming to all and she so enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She had a love for the active lifestyle, enjoying exercise classes and swimming well into her 90's. Her love of nature showed in her beautiful gardening, caring tenderly for her plants and yard. Her talents were unlimited in home improvement projects, baking, cooking, playing the organ, and quilting. Her quilts were displayed at craft fairs in the area, as well as in her family's homes as she took the time and patience to create custom quilts for her loved ones. Her recipes were made with a touch that only she had, especially her cakes and her macaroni and cheese casserole which are still family favorites.

Irene is a shining light for all of her family with her unconditional love, kindness, compassion, humility, understanding, and peaceful nature. Her love and commitment to family and friends was demonstrated over the years when she selflessly cared for several terminally ill family members, and friends. She took them into her home and gave them loving care, and peace in their final days.

Over her 97 years she touched so many people who will miss her dearly, and never forget her.

Irene was pre-deceased by her husband, Daniel Evans, and daughters Danielle Snyder and Denise Zoeller, and son-in-law Leonard Snyder.

Irene is survived by three children Dan (Eileen), Dave and Doug (Jane) Evans. She was lovingly knows as B'mom to grandchildren Stephen, Christopher and Ashley Zoeller; David and Jon Evans; Katherine Dempsey and Daniel Evans.
