James "Jim"
Cassidy
February 4, 1944 – April 29, 2026
Henry James “Jim” Cassidy of Feasterville, PA passed away on Wednesday, April 29th at the age of 82. Called by the name Jim or Jimmy, he was born in Philadelphia, PA to Henry James Cassidy and Wanda Lorraine Lutz. Jim will be remembered for his love, dedication, and kindness.
Jim grew up on a 10-acre farm in Bensalem Township and attended Delhaase High School in Bristol Township. Starting as a dishwasher at Howard Johnson’s, he worked various jobs in his teenage years, including at Baden Housing and Asplundh Tree Expert. Jim served two years of active duty in the United States Army, including a tour in Germany, where he was a scout along the Czechoslovakian border and held a top-secret clearance. While in Germany he would visit his surviving friend of 77 years, Roy Fischer.
After honorable discharge, Jim spent 32 years working at the landmark Nabisco plant on Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia, where he met his wife, Susan. They married in 1984 and were together until her passing in 2017. Upon retirement in 2006, Jim worked part-time at Santiago’s Coffee & Tea in Bryn Athyn, and then at the Starbucks in Southampton.
In addition to coffee, Jim enjoyed many hobbies and interests, including playing cards, collecting coins, metal detecting, following the weather, visiting thrift stores and light betting at the racetrack. He loved going on outings with his son, Andrew, whether on a day trip, to the local swim club, or out to dinner. Always curious to learn something new, Jim would read everything from daily newspapers to classic detective novels. For many years he served as an usher and barista to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, where he faithfully attended worship each week. Jim especially loved vacationing at the Inn at Starlight Lake, where he and his family traveled to each summer for 40 years. In his later years, Jim would meet friends for coffee every morning at his local Starbucks cafe.
Jim is pre-deceased by his beloved wife Susan (Arentz) Cassidy, as well as his brother Carl Sheridan and sister Dana Beerhalter. He is the loving father to Andrew Cassidy and his wife, Patricia DeCesare. Jim is also survived by two brothers, Arnold (Barbara) Cassidy and Robert Sheridan; all three served in the United States Army. He leaves behind his two loving cats, Kitkat and Cuddlebug.
