IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James J.
Mccarthy Jr.
December 4, 1959 – June 8, 2025
James (Jimmy) Joseph McCarthy Jr passed away peacefully at home, in Levittown, Pennsylvania on June 8th, 2025. He was 65. Jim was born and raised in Warminster, Pennsylvania to the late James McCarthy Sr and Jacqueline "Jackie" Teresa Hulsey.
Jim was a devoted husband to Pamela McCarthy (nee Leneski) for 35 years. He was a father to Hope, Christina, Kathleen, Lauren, and James III. Jim was grandfather to Krystal, Jessica, Gabriella, Michael, Ryleigh, Dominick, Teagan, and Charles. And great grandfather to Isabella, Dean, Maven, and Carter.
Jim graduated from William Tennent High School in 1977 and went on to study Business Management at Clarion University of Pennsylvania for which he graduated in 1981. He was very proud of his school and continued to follow their athletic achievements the rest of his life.
Jim tenured many jobs throughout his professional career, most notably he was employed by Rite Aid from 1995 until his medical retirement in 2009.
Medically, Jim defied odds. Despite the expectation he would not live beyond toddlerhood, Jim lived a full life. He battled Ménière's disease, congestive heart failure, and diabetes for which he was open about the complications these ailments caused.
Regardless of his medical conditions, Jim found joy. He was hugely involved in the Democratic Party and enjoyed debating politics. He loved to meet new friends through Facebook and Twitter that shared his same interests. Jim loved to watch movies, more often than not on full volume. Jim was a huge Peanuts fan and had a soft spot for actress Ally Sheedy. He was a big reader, collecting many books and attending book fairs yearly in Arizona with his mother and late father. Baseball was one of his greatest passions. He was an avid Phillies, Cubs, White Sox, and Diamondbacks fan, but would watch any and every game on tv. He also attended many spring training games series to watch as many games as possible. You'd be hard pressed to find him without a ball-cap on his head. He went to the ballpark as often as possible, usually every Sunday Phillies home game with his son. When the Phillies weren't playing you could find Jim laying on the couch surrounded by his family watching the Eagles game. Go Birds.
Jim was a foodie and a sucker for a Slurpee from 7-Eleven and a Wawa soft pretzel. Jim's greatest joy was his family, especially the laughs provided by his grandchildren. Despite being dubbed "The Old Man", Jim had a teasing spirit and a great sense of humor.
Remaining to honor Jim's memory are his wife: Pamela; his children: Hope, Christina (Michael), Kathleen (Earl), Lauren, James III (Danielle); his grandchildren: Krystal, Jessica, Gabriella (Collin), Michael, Ryleigh, Dominick, Teagan, and Charles; and his great-grandchildren Maven and Baby L. Jim will also be sorely missed by his mother, Jacqueline Teresa; his sister Teresa (Alan); his niece Teresa (Christopher); and his great-nieces Teresa and Emma. As well as by extended family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, James McCarthy Sr, and his nephew, Michael Games. At his passing, Jim's family made the decision to continue to honor his legacy by tissue and organ donation through Gift of Life.
Visitation will be held at Kirk and Nice Funeral Home, 333 County Line Rd, Huntington Valley, PA 19006, on June 17, 2025 at 10:30 in the morning. Internment will be privately held.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) or the American Heart Association.
