Obituary of Jean Martin

Jean Redington Martin passed away peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2007 at Souderton Mennonite Home after a long illness. She was 81 years old.

Jean was previously a resident of Warminster, Pa. for more than 20 years, and then East Rockhill, PA. for 17 years before moving to Souderton in 2003. Born and raised in Conshohocken, PA., Jean graduated from Conshohocken High School in 1944. Soon after, Jean's love of trains led her to the railroad where she worked in many job capacities for many years starting out with the PRR, then Conrail, and finally retiring from Amtrak. Jean was a very happy, kind and compassionate person frequently volunteering her time and resources to others. She had also helped care for many stray animals over the years. Jean never missed an opportunity at a social gathering always inviting people over for dinners, picnics, or card games. She regularly visited every Senior Center in the area; especially Harleysville, Sellersville, and the Moose in Quakertown. She loved to dance and she got involved wherever and whenever she could including Line Dancing, Square Dancing, and Ballroom Dancing. Jean celebrated every holiday each with its own corresponding decorations and outfit. Jean loved to travel having visited every state in the U.S., England, Mexico, and many parts of Canada riding the train whenever she could. When she was home, Jean tended tirelessly to her beloved vegetable gardens or her arts and crafts projects including knitting and crocheting. Jean was very strong in her faith throughout her entire life never missing church services, when she was well and able, and frequently attended bible studies. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Warminster for many years, and then attended St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Dublin.

She was the wife of the late Dell L. Martin, Jr. She was the daughter of the late Eugene E. and Emma L. Redington. She was also preceded in death by her brother Jack and sister Margaret. She is survived by her beloved twin girls, Diane Rimmer of Warrington and Carol Sulthaus of Hatboro; and her granddaughter, Danielle Sulthaus of Hatboro.
