August 16, 1943 – April 27, 2021
Jean Marianne (Viehweger) Rice, age 77, beloved wife of Ronald E. Rice with whom she shared 55 years of marriage, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Abington, PA, she was the only child to Fremuit and Ilse (Uhlmann) Viehweger. Jean was a graduate of William Tennent High School, class of 1961. She enjoyed High School very much. She organized her class reunions and kept in touch with many classmates, several of which were very close, lifelong friends. Upon graduation, Jean worked at Fischer and Porter as a secretary. This is where Jean met the love of her life, Ron. Together, they built a house in Warminster and lived there for 49 years. Recently, they built a home in Warrington where they have lived for the past six years. She spent a great deal of time at the Vereinigung Erzgebirge Club making many long-term friendships. She enjoyed the pool, playing fist ball, and participated in many social events the club offered throughout the years. Jean enjoyed summers in Sea Isle City with her family. She loved reading on the beach and spending time with her granddaughters. Jean was an avid golfer at LuLu Country Club and made long-lasting friendships. She played on the golf team for many years and was a member of the Ladies Golf Association. She was also a member of the LuLu bowling team. Jean was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Southampton, and the gym at the Wellness Center in Warrington. She participated in a book club and also enjoyed going to the theatre with many of her gym friends.
In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by her son; Ron Rice, Jr. (Rochelle Gordon) and Deborah Scott, wife of Don Scott. She was the devoted grandmother of Lindsay, Ashley and Carly Scott.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 West County Line Rd., Huntingdon Valley. A visitation will be held on Monday morning from 10am until 12pm. A private burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
