Obituary of Joan Mccracken
Joan Fernley McCracken of Plymouth Meeting, PA passed away on August 30th at home WITH HER FAMILY AT HER SIDE. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Stewart McCracken, she is survived by her four children, Ellen, Scott, Mary and Jim, a brother, Robert Fernley, her two grandchildren Jamie and Brian McCracken and numerous cousins nieces and nephews. Joan was a graduate of The Shipley School, Bryn Mawr, and the University of Pennsylvania. She was an outstanding athlete who excelled at Field Hockey, Squash and Tennis while attending school. Her passion for tennis remained as she continued to compete at a high level for many years with the Philadelphia Cricket Club. Joan was a devoted wife and mother. Aside from supporting her children and husband in their activities, Joan was an avid gardener and member of the Philadelphia Garden Club. Joan won numerous blue ribbons with her garden club and as an individual at the Philadelphia Flower Show for over 30 years in both small niche arrangement and horticulture classes with the last blue ribbon coming just 3 years ago. Her volunteer interests included working at the Chestnut Hill Hospital, volunteering for the Montgomery county chapter of Special Olympics and teaching environmental education for Project Trend at the Schulkill Center for Environmental Education. Joan enjoyed travel with her family.
