Joana Joseph (nee: St. Louis) of Elkins Park, PA, passed away on October 3, 2026 at the age of 70. Joana was born in Haiti to Pierre Alexandre and Marie Veronique (nee: Rose) St. Louis. Joana was one of eleven siblings, blessed to be the sister of nine sisters and one brother. Joana Joseph was a beloved sister, wife, mother, and cherished member of her family and community. She will be remembered for her kind heart, loving spirit, strong faith, and devotion to those she held dear.
At the age of 31, Joana made the courageous journey from Haiti to New York, beginning a new chapter in her life while carrying with her the values, faith, and traditions that shaped who she was. Joana's love story with Lionel Joseph began many years earlier. The two first became friends in the fourth grade in Haiti, and over time, their friendship blossomed into a deep and lasting love. Joana and Lionel were married in Haiti in August 1988 and built a life together filled with love, family, and shared memories. Joana was the proud and devoted mother of four sons. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her love, strength, and wisdom into raising and supporting her children.
Joana dedicated herself to caring for others through her work as a nursing assistant in a nursing home. Her profession reflected her compassionate nature and her willingness to serve and care for those in need. Outside of work and family, Joana found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid crocheter who took pride in creating beautiful handmade pieces, which she has shared with many individuals. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Joana's faith was an important part of her life. At 17 years old Joana accepted Christ as her Savior. She was an active member of Eglise Baptiste D'Expression Française in Spring Valley, New York, and most recently Calvary Baptist Church in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. She sang in choir, served in the nursery, and enjoyed the special ladies events. Her faith provided her with strength, hope, and comfort throughout her journey. Joana was singing and praising her Savior until her last breath.
Joana Joseph is the beloved Wife to Lionel Joseph, loving Mother to Joanel Joseph, Ledny Joseph and daughter in law Nicole Stong Joseph, Gomer Joseph, Osger Joseph and daughter in law Teagan Joseph. She is pre-deceased by her parents Pierre Alexandre and Marie Veronique (nee: Rose) St.Louis.
