IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John "Jake"
Bevan
July 28, 1943 – November 26, 2025
John Henry Bevan (Jake) of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on November 26, 2025 at the age of 82.
Jake was born in Philadelphia to Harry Albert Bevan and wife Bernice (nee Agner).
Jake drove trolleys and busses for PTC (later Septa) for 35 years before retiring. He had a range of hobbies over the years including fishing, camping, shooting sports and collecting, including toy trains, Septa and PTC memorabilia, watches and whatever else may have interested him at the time. Jake had many friends throughout the years and enjoyed attending his retiree breakfasts and having lunch and a cigar down at the river every day. He loved cars and above all else loved spending time with his family.
He loved following his son John's athletic pursuits through grade school, high school and after. He was always proud of his daughter Sherry and introduced her and her family to camping, which they enjoyed doing together for years. More recently he loved nothing more than seeing his great grandchildren.
Jake is the beloved husband to Carolyn (deceased), loving father to Sherry Dougherty (Bill) and John Bevan (Tracy). The caring grandfather of eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, with another due in March, 2026. Jake is pre-deceased by his parents Harry and Bernice, his wife Carolyn, his brother Albert and his sister Joan.
