John (Jack)M.Strimple of Northumberland, Pennsylvania, died peacefully at the Nottingham Village Nursing Center in Northumberland on December 24, 2016 . He was predeceased by Lillian, his beloved wife of 63 years, and is survived by two sons, Jack of Winchester, VA., and Robert of Coopersburg, PA, and their wives, Catherine and Barbara. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, John Strimple of Hughesville, PA, Laura Strimple - Borske of Lincoln,NE., Thomas Strimple of Winchester, VA, and Nancy Wilmot of Laurel, MD. In addition, he is survived by eight great grandchildren. Jack filled his nearly 100 years with many career enterprises and exploits. Most of his early years were spent in Philadelphia, and during his later years, he lived in Langhorne, Bucks County. Early on, he was employed by SKF Industries. At night and on weekends, he performed as a musician with his own musical group. Later, he entered the Navy and served briefly until he was honorably discharged at the end of World War II. He then began a long and successful career as an independent insurance agent. During his career, he had agency offices on Teesdale St., Frankford Ave., and Cottman Ave. in Philadelphia, and on Rogers Rd.(Route 413) in Bristol. While he was in Bristol, he began a new venture that fulfilled his life - long dream of world travel. In 1966, he opened the B&B Travel Agency. During the course of his 22 year travel career, he and his wife , Lillian, journeyed to hundreds of destinations throughout the United States and around the world. In 1988, he retired to take care of Lillian, until she passed away in 2001. He remained in Langhorne until 2014, at which time he moved to Nottingham Village. Jack was a gentle man who leaves his family and friends with wonderful memories of his good humor and pleasant disposition. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, 10 am at the Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 County Line Rd., Feasterville, PA 19053 (on grounds of Sunset Memorial Park ), where Jack's celebration of life will begin at 11 am. Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations are to be made to the American Cancer Society, 626 Locust St., Philadelphia, Pa 19103.
