John M. Lacerte, age 80, of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, passed away at Jefferson Bucks Hospital on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

John was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 19, 1946, to the late Joseph and Mary (nee Haluska) Lacerte. Following high school, John proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1967 as a Damage Control Petty Officer Third Class. After his military service, he began a career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked for approximately 30 years before retiring.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann (nee Truchel) Lacerte; his granddaughter, Lianne Campbell; and his brothers, Paul and Joseph Lacerte.

He is survived by his five children, Jeannine (Donnie) Ulmer, Claudine (Tom) Purcell, John (Heidi) Lacerte, Andrea (Matt) Slavin, and Tom (Jessica) Lacerte; his grandchildren, Sean (Kate) Lacerte, Amber (John) Doyle, Amanda (Jim) DeBlasio, Tristan Purcell, Devin Lacerte, Kylie Lacerte, Matt (fiancée Macy) Slavin, Lauren Slavin, Tommy (Kate) Slavin, Delaney Lacerte, and Ryann Lacerte; his great-grandchildren, Maddie Doyle, Liam DeBlasio, and Vivienne DeBlasio; his sisters, Pauline Murray and MaryAnn Lucia; and his longtime companion, Joan Johnston.

John had a lifelong love of fishing, particularly fly fishing, and shared many memorable fishing trips with his brother Joe and his best friend, Bill. He especially enjoyed trips to the mountains with Bill, where they spent time fishing together. John also treasured the yearly trips he took with his sons, John and Tom, a tradition that created many special memories over the years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed shooting and spending time outdoors. He was also a passionate collector of trains and had an extraordinary knowledge of steam engines and could tell you just about anything there was to know about the different styles and history of steam locomotives. John was also a member of the Bridesburg VFW.

John will be remembered for his love of family, his appreciation for the outdoors, and the many memories created during a life well lived. His family will especially treasure the stories, traditions, and time spent together that will continue to keep his memory alive for generations to come.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel located within Sunset Memorial Park at 333 County Line Road, Huntington Valley, PA 19006 on Saturday, August 29th at 10:30 a.m. Those attending will then proceed together to the graveside where services will be held in John's honor.
