IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John P.
Mathew
June 16, 1949 – September 30, 2025
John P. Mathew, lovingly known as Unnikunju, was a devoted husband, grandfather, brother and friend. He entered into eternal rest on September 30, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born on June 16, 1949 in Ranni, Kerala, India, to the late Thomas John and the late Alleyamma John, Unnikunju lived a life marked by resilience, industry and a deep devotion to his family.
On December 9, 1978, he married the late Susamma Mathew, his beloved wife with whom he shared a life of deep love and partnership, raising two children, Ronnie and Reeba.
Unnikunju often spoke with fondness about his time working in Kuwait, where he lived for three years before immigrating to the United States in 1986. He then worked at Cardone and FBF Industries, where his dedication and work ethic left a lasting impression. Unnikunju was also saved and baptized, attending Philadelphia Brethren Assembly for over 30 years.
Unnikunju was known for his sharp wit, humor, and hospitality. Anyone who entered his home was sure to be warmly welcomed and generously fed. Unnikunju found joy in gardening and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
Unnikunju is survived by his son Ronnie and his daughter-in-law Christy, and their son Jonathan; his daughter Reeba and son-in-law Sajit, and their daughter Maya. He also leaves behind three sisters, four brothers, and their families, along with extended relatives and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.
Unnikunju's presence will be deeply missed, but his love and laughter will live on in all who knew him.
