Oliver
September 4, 1933 – April 1, 2025
John Oliver died peacefully on April 1, 2025. He was born in Philadelphia, September 4, 1933. John was a gifted athlete who played whatever sport was in season at Lighthouse Boys' Club. He excelled in soccer and played professionally for Uhriks Truckers and the Philadelphia Americans. In 1957 he was named MVP of the American Soccer League (ASL). After a career ending injury, John's passion was coaching. He and his wife Dolores were dedicated coaches and volunteers at Lighthouse Field for many years. He capped off his extensive association in the soccer community by being inducted into the Philadelphia Soccer Hall of Fame
in 2006.
After working 30 years at Western Electric, John and Dolores moved to Florida. There John embarked on a new career as a travel agent. While booking cruises for many clients, he and Dolores managed to cruise 125 times all over the world. After 31 years in Florida, they returned to Pennsylvania to reside at Ann's Choice by Erickson Senior Living in Warminster and were members of the 10 Year Club.
