Obituary of Joseph Bergner

Joseph A., 88 passed away on December 16, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Edith (Dodszuweit) and the loving father of Robert (Diane), David (Barbara) and Sandy (Brian) Gearin. Joe was the devoted grandfather of Christopher (Kim), Timothy (Aimee), Andrew (Andrea), Jennifer (Joshua), Kaitlin (Adam) and Rebecca and the proud great-grandfather of Oliver. He was the son of Frederick and Ida (Haag) and is survived by a brother, Andrew. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick and sisters Magdalene and Catherine. Joe was a Marine Corps veteran serving during World War II and the Korean War. He graduated from Villanova University and had a lengthy career as an optical engineer.

Originally from the Burholme area of Northeast Phila. Joe and Edith raised their family in Hatboro for 12 years, then spent 38 years in Dresher before retiring to the Peter Becker Community in 2000. Joe loved his family and Philly sports. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, December 21 from 10:00 to 11:00 am with a funeral mass immediately following in the Chapel at Peter Becker Community, 800 Maple Ave., Harleysville. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Peter Becker Benevolent Fund would be appreciated, or to the charity of your choice.
