Joseph J. Brophy, 87, of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Nazareth Hospital. He was born January 26, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of James and Katy Brophy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Sharon Choy (Brophy), and his siblings Ann, James, John, and Bill Brophy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Brophy; son, Joseph Brophy; son-in-law, William Choy; three grandchildren and their spouses, William and Kelsey Choy, Eric and Michaeline Choy, and Michael Choy and his fiancé Erin Graham; three great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Rose, and Eric Choy; nephews Tim, Marty, James, and David; and nieces Lisa and Terry.

Joe was stationed in Germany where he served for the U.S. Army as a corporal. He later opened his own business fixing commercial food equipment. He always looked forward to the yearly beach trip with his family and watching his grandsons play hockey. In his later years, he enjoyed reminiscing about his time in the military and the days spent as his shop.

Joe's family will be having visitations at Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel, Inc., 333 W. County Line Road, Huntington Valley, PA, 19006 at 9 AM on Tuesday, August 4th. The funeral mass will follow, at St. Christopher's Church, 13301 Proctor Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19116.
