Obituary

Joseph A. Correia passed away peacefully on Sunday August 28, 2022, at Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia PA. He was 96 years old, having been born on July 27, 1926, in Philadelphia PA to his late parents Edith E (Stuhlman) and Joseph A Correia, Sr.

Joseph married Isabelle "Sis" Deputy on August 10, 1946, when he returned home on leave from Aberdeen, MD where he was stationed in the Army. They were happily married for 75 years.

Joseph lived with Sis and their daughter Linda in Philadelphia until 1962 when he moved the family to Los Angeles, CA in order to be closer to his father. Joseph, Sis and Linda drove across the United States many times to visit extended family in what became an almost annual event. Joseph was a truck driver and enjoyed being on the road; sightseeing and stopping in small towns across America. Joseph was most proud of his family's history in the Circus, having relatives that were enshrined in the Circus Hall of Fame. Joseph had a few hobbies that he loved during his lifetime. He enjoyed antique cars and frequently attended shows in the area. He counted among his possessions a 1930 Ford Model A and a 1957 Buick Roadmaster. Additionally, Joseph enjoyed antiquing and was also a gun collector. His passion for guns manifest itself in his long-time membership in the Delran Junior Marksman Club where he taught his grandson Ryan the science of sharpshooting.

In 1968 the family returned from California settling again in Philadelphia and eventually moving to Cinnaminson NJ upon the marriage of their daughter. He lived quietly there with Sis until her death in May 2021 when he came to live with his daughter Linda and her husband Frederick in Jenkintown PA.

Joseph is survived by his daughter Linda Gale (Correia) Koelle, her husband Frederick J Koelle, his grandchildren Ryan C Koelle and Corinne (Koelle) Garlanger (Cody) and his sole great grandchild Daniel P Koelle.

In lieu of flowers please consider making donations to the Disabled American Veterans, DAV National Service Office, 5500 Wissahickon Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19144, Joseph's favorite charity.
