Obituary

Ki Hyun Cho 유기현 was born on September 6, 1934 in Gongju 공주, in the Province of Cheung-Nam, South Korea. She was the second daughter to Heung Yup Yu (Father/Elder) and Sam Soon Lee (Mother/Deaconess).

The first important milestone in her life was her infant baptism followed by confirmation in middle school. Later, she attended Gong-Ju, Geun-San teacher's school and eventually graduated from Sudo teacher's college with an Associate degree. For her career, she worked as an Elementary school teacher for 20 years in Geun-San and then in Seoul, Korea.

On April 18, 1960, Ki Hyun married Chong Su Cho and later bore 2 daughters, Elaine Hae-Kyung Youn 조혜경, Grace Eun-Young Kim 조은영, and one son, Daniel Dong-Hyuk Cho 조동혁.

In June 1975, she immigrated to the United States with her family.

On February 27, 1994, she was appointed as Deaconess (Kwon-Sa) at the Korean United Church of Philadelphia where she served for many years. From 2023 through 2026, she served as a Prayer Coordinator for Missions to North America at Sarang Nanum Community Church.

On August 4, 2026, at the age of 91, she was called to be with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

She was the caring grandmother of Rachel Hanna Youn 윤하나, Priscila Jin-Sil Kim 김진실, Nathan Ahn-Tae Cho 조안태, and Kaitlyn Ahn-Mee Cho 조안미. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chong Su Cho 조정수 who was also called to be with his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on February 7, 2022 at the age of 90.

She received much prayer and support from her son-in-laws, Sung-Yul Youn 윤성열, and James Gun-Yong Kim 김건용, as well as her daughter-in-law, Ihna Cho 이인아.

Ki Hyun loved reading the Bible daily in her quiet-time, enjoyed singing hymns, and faithfully engaged in Bible Studies. She was quite the prayer warrior praying for family, friends, and church friends over most of her life and she will be missed. Her faith of many years in Jesus Christ is now SIGHT! Amen.
