IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kima
Avakyan
December 12, 1925 – February 3, 2025
Kima was born in the heart of Nagorno-Karabakh, into a blacksmith's family. His father, Movses, instilled in him and his siblings a character as strong and steadfast as the iron he worked with. His mother, Gohar, gave them love, warmth, and a deep sense of care for others—qualities that would guide Kima throughout his life.
He was the youngest and the last of Movses and Gohar's children, and today, we say our final goodbye to him. Kima, like his siblings, endured the hardships of life, facing famine and plague in his early years. But even in the most difficult times, he remained strong, learning the value of perseverance and family.
At just 12 years old, when the war began, Kima was already working side by side with the adults in the fields of the collective farm. He knew what it meant to toil for survival and to help provide for those around him. His early life prepared him for everything that came next.
Before joining the army, Kima worked as an oil worker, a job that taught him the importance of dedication and skill. He later served in Tashkent, where he met his future wife and began building the life that he would become so proud of. Kima's efforts as a builder left an indelible mark on the city of Tashkent, a city that grew more beautiful because of the contributions of this honored builder of Uzbekistan.
Through all the struggles and triumphs, Kima remained grounded by his love for his family. Today, Kima's legacy is carried forward by his three sons, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren who stand behind him. His memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege to know him.
As we say goodbye to Kima, we reflect on the strength and resilience he embodied throughout his life. His love for his family, his dedication to his work, and his unwavering spirit will never be forgotten. His memory will live on in the hearts of all of us who were touched by his presence.
