IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lawrence "Larry"
Belmont Gussman
May 3, 1940 – May 2, 2023
Lawrence (Larry) Belmont Gussman, age 82, beloved husband of Patricia (Purdham) Gussman, of Philadelphia, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in Holland, PA. Born on May 3, 1940 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Gussman. He grew up in the Headhouse square section of Philadelphia and lived in Philadelphia for most of his life. At the age of 17, he joined the US Navy so he could support his mother and 7 siblings. Larry served on the USS Saratoga where he traveled the world. Upon discharge, Larry settled in Florida where he worked in the hotel business alongside his brother Richie. Here he met his wife of 58 years, Patricia. Larry was an entrepreneur who had many different businesses throughout his life. He carved out a niche in the restaurant supply business and worked up until December 2022. Larry was an amazing person who was looked at as the Patriarch of the family who took care of everyone. He would have given the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by his daughters; Karen Gussman and Courtney Norella and his son-in-law, Louis Norella IV, along with his grandchildren, Hailey and Louie V. He is also survived by his sisters; June Petriccione, Annette Albertson, Saena Rossi and Marilyn Kaczinski and his brother; Jack Gussman, and his 18 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth (Belmonte) Gussman and his brothers, Stevie Gussman and Richard Gussman. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Larry's viewing on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel from 9:30 AM and to his funeral service at 11 AM with Rev David Carey officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's memory to St Jude Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org would be appreciated.
