Obituary of Lewis Barton

Lewis Barton, age 88, a lifelong resident of Bucks County, passed away on Tuesday, February 14 of natural causes. He was born in Hulmeville to Benjamin and Lillian Barton

He was a proud Veteran of the WW II Submarine Service, completing six battle patrols from 1942 to 1945. He married Beatrice Schramm in 1945 and had three sons. She died in a traffic accident in 1961. He married Margaret (Peg) Dooley in 1963 and was happily married for 43 years. Peg passed away in 2006.

Lew served as a Sea Scout leader in Bristol following his service in the Navy.

He was a founding member of the Penndel Middletown Emergency Squad and received 50 years of continuous service recognition from the Pennsylvania State Senate, the State House of Representatives and from the 8th Congressional District of Pennsylvania in 2009.

Lew was a 3rd generation carpenter who retired from Rohm & Haas after 26 years of service. After retirement he continued to use his carpentry skills doing home renovations and additions. He also did restoration work on buildings in Historic Fallingston. He enjoyed making fun lawn decorations for his family and friends.

Lew was a member of the Lower Buck's Seniors, Neshaminy Seniors, a life member of the VFW of Croydon, PA and a life member of Bristol Moose Lodge 1169. He loved to dance and could be found almost every Friday and Saturday at a dance at one of the Senior Centers, the VFW or the Moose Lodge.

In 2010 he moved from his house in Langhorne to Pickering Manor in Newtown. He made many new friends, and kept busy with activities there.

He is survived by this three children, John Barton (Kathy), Bob Barton (Diane), and Ken Barton, his three step children Don Dooley (Carol), Shirley Yard (Dick) and Wayne Dooley, 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, February 20 from 10 AM at the Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 County Line Road, Feasterville (215) 354-0085 where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM. Internment immediately following in Sunset Memorial Park.
