Obituary of Mariheln Rose

ROSE, Mariheln Dormer of Huntingdon Valley, PA died September 30, 2013 at the age of 77.

Mariheln was the daughter of Mary Spadafora Dormer and Devlin W. Dormer, Sr. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Richard A. Rose, Sr., her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Robert Weckenman of Richboro, PA; and son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Virginia Rose of Shavertown, PA.

A graduate of Pottsville High School, Mariheln began her career modeling in New York. Married life brought her to the Philadelphia area.

A devout Catholic, Mariheln was a member of Our Lady of Good Council Church, Southampton, PA and she held special admiration for and friendships with the Sisters of Holy Redeemer, Huntingdon Valley, PA. Community minded, Mariheln volunteered for Meals on Wheels and assisted in various charitable campaigns including the Arthritis Foundation and the American Cancer Society. She was a member and officer of the Philadelphia Antiquarian Society and numerous church societies.

Mariheln was an avid traveler. Together with her husband Dick, Mariheln sought to explore the far-reaching wonders of the world and loved cruising most of all. Her fascination with diverse landscapes and cultures throughout the globe was a constant source of pleasure and enrichment. Mariheln's quest for learning about people's customs and journeys paralleled her commitment to humanity. Mariheln was known for her ability to provide encouragement to people in need and inspired others with her dynamic personality and infectious optimism.

Mariheln had great love for her three grandchildren Richard A. Rose III, Shavertown, PA; Catherine E. Weckenman, Washington, D.C. and Ronald J. Rose, Philadelphia, PA. Mariheln is also survived by her brothers and their wives, Devlin and Phyllis Dormer; William and Irene Dormer all of Pottsville, PA along with Nieces Angel Dormer, New York; Maria Dormer, Maryland; Christine Dormer and Jacqueline Dormer, both of Pottsville and nephew William Dormer, Jr. and his wife Heather of Maryland.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday October 4, from 10:30am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church 611 Knowles Ave. (at 2nd Street Pike) Southampton, PA 18966, where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30am. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
