Marilyn Tarr passed away peacefully in her sleep at age 93 on January 7, 2026.
Marilyn was born in Chicago on May 9, 1932 to Jacob and Vinnie Lavin (nee Bloomberg). They moved to Philadelphia when she was 2, residing in a neighborhood with many close relatives. She graduated from West Philadelphia High School in 1949.
Marilyn was the beloved wife for 45 years to Arnold, who predeceased her. She is survived by her sons Eric (Noreen), Mason (Patty), and Adam (Lauren). She also has 4 grandchildren, Ben, Lane, Jordan, and Allison.
She and Arnold had lots of friends over the years, and once the kids were older, enjoyed traveling. Marilyn was employed from around 1973 at Tyler School of Art where she served in several admin roles, ultimately being secretary to several of the school's deans until her retirement.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life at 1030 a.m. , January 16, 2026, at Kirk and Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 W. County Line Rd., Huntingdon Valley , PA 19006
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Human Good, 1515 The Fairway, Jenkintown, PA 19046, where she resided under their fine care since 2015.
