Mary E. Brock

February 20, 1917 - June 25, 2014

Mary E. Brock (nee Hartsough), age 97 of Newtown, PA died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at St. Mary Medical Center. Mary was born February 20, 1917 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of t of the late James H. Hartsough and Henrietta M Hartsough (nee Rudolph). She is the beloved wife of the late Frank E. Brock; mother of the late Deborah Longcore; David E. Brock, Sr. and his wife Terry; grandmother of Marissa Luciani-Proch (Casey); David E. Brock, Jr. (Michele); Joanna M. Brock; and sister-in-law of Rhoda Hartsough.

Mary was born, raised and lived in Philadelphia until 2000 when she moved with Frank to Bensalem. After Frank's death, she moved to Friends Home in Newtown in April 2011. Mary was the oldest of three children and is preceded in death by both of her brothers; Thomas (1918-1920) and James (1923-2008). She worked various jobs throughout the depression and during the war. She worked in a ribbon mill, for the Pennsylvania Rail Road and even frosted cakes for a bakery. Mary and Frank were engaged to be married in 1942, but waited until Frank returned from WWII and were married on November 17, 1945. They were married 60 years. She was a homemaker who was very content raising her children, cooking and knowing she was there for Frank when he arrived home from his many nights of shift-work. Mary knew how to pray. Everyone could count on her for praying for them. She was a great "Prayer Warrior". She always read her Bible. In her younger years she enjoyed sewing and then later enjoyed crocheting and word search puzzle books. Most of all she loved God and her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 7 until 9 PM and then on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 10 to 11 AM followed by her funeral service at Kirk and Nice Suburban Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 333 County Line Road, Feasterville, PA 19053 (Tel: 215-354-0085).
