January 9, 1941 – February 24, 2019
Mary (McQuaid) Jacobs 78, of Northeast Philadelphia passed away peacefully
on February 24, 2019 at St. Joseph's Manor in Huntingdon Valley, PA. She was
born to the late Francis Sr, and Susan (McCullough) McQuaid on January 9,
1941 in Philadelphia. Mary graduated from Commercial High School. She began
working at Philco and met her soon to be husband, Elmer. They married January
13, 1962. They had three children, Mark, Dawn and Craig and resided on Evans
Street in Northeast Philadelphia for 57 years. After being a stay at home mom,
Mary worked at Cottman Credit, Mechanics Choice and she retired from Quaker
City Chemical in 2016.
Mary and Elmer both enjoyed visiting their mountain house in Kunkletown, PA
and went every weekend for many years. Mary enjoyed spending time with her
family, going to the mall, and visiting with friends. She also enjoyed traveling
with her family to southern destinations such as Myrtle Beach, SC and Hilton
Head, SC. Mary loved going out to dinner and she enjoyed the occasional
Manhattan!
Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband Elmer. She is survived by her
two sons Mark Jacobs and Craig Jacobs and her daughter Dawn Doheny;
daughter-in-laws Maria (Turco) and Christine (Breeding); and son-in-law Bill
Doheny. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Nicole Jacobs, Jessica
Giammarinaro, Kimberly Jacobs, Billy Doheny, Keri Doheny, Claire Jacobs and
Camille Jacobs. Mary is preceded in death by her brother Francis McQuaid. She
is also survived by her brother John P. McQuaid, cousins Rose Marie and Bill
Benoit and nieces Jennifer LaPergola and Kristin Macrina and nephew John
McQuaid. She is also survived by grandnieces Heather, Taylor and Amanda and
grandnephews Patrick and her favorite, Stephen!
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 10:00 AM
at the Kirk and Nice Suburban Chapel 333 County Line Road, Feasterville, PA
19053 where Mary's life will be celebrated at 11:00 AM.
