IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Thankachen
Samuel
January 20, 1953 – December 30, 2020
Mary Thankachen Samuel
January 20, 1953 - December 30, 2020
Mary Thankachen Samuel of Chalfont, PA, beloved daughter, caring sister, loving wife, remarkable aunt, dedicated mother and adoring grandmother went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 30, 2020 at the age of 67. Mary was born in Tanzania, East Africa on January 20, 1953 to the late Nadavallil John Abraham & late Aleyamma Abraham and grew up in Kollam, Kerala, India. Mary was happily wedded to the late Thankachen Samuel on May 22, 1978 in Kerala, India and thereafter was blessed with two children, Dennis and Diana. While in India, Mary earned her Bachelor's degree in Clinical Psychology from Union Christian College (UCC) in 1973 and then went on to obtain her Master's degree from Kerala University. After migrating with her family to the United States in 1987, she worked as an administrative assistant for many years until her retirement in 2012. Upon her retirement, Mary volunteered at Lansdale Hospital for the last seven years. After being saved and baptized, she was a devoted member of Philadelphia Brethren Assembly and then Grace Gospel Chapel. She was also an active participant of the women's prayer line and greatly valued their fellowship. Mary had a warmth and sincerity that would make any stranger feel like part of the family. She was the very heart of her family with her stories of the "old days", words of wisdom and genuine affection that filled any room. She was a formidable Scrabble player, notorious magnet-collector and was known for sending encouraging WhatsApp messages to her loved ones. Her unsurpassed love was felt by everyone who knew her, both near and far. That love was especially evident for her beloved dog Candie and her three precious grandchildren. Her presence in all of our lives will be deeply missed. Mary was a devoted wife to her late husband Thankachen Samuel of 35 years and is survived by her son Dennis, daughter Diana, daughter-in-law Joice, grandchildren Noah, Roman and Sophia, and her siblings Elsa and Johnny along with their children. She also leaves behind numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces along with their families, cousins, friends and church families who will greatly miss her until the Lord returns. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Public viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with funeral service and interment thereafter. If anyone would like to send floral arrangements, please have them arrive before 4pm on January 5, 2021 at the Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel. Condolence cards may be sent to:
