IN LOVING MEMORY OF
May F.
Zipley
August 8, 1930 – June 2, 2025
May Fern Cunningham Zipley of Ambler and Ocean City, beloved wife, mother and aunt passed away peacefully holding the hand of her devoted husband, Joe of 66 years, on Monday, June 2 at the age of 94. May was born in Philadelphia on August 8, 1930. Her parents, Samuel and Ruth (Morgan) Cunningham, her older brother, Kenneth, and sister, Ruth Turnock, predeceased her. May grew up in Frankford and graduated from Frankford High School, she then went to work at Wanamaker's in Philadelphia. She married Joseph A. Zipley on August 30, 1958 and was devoted to him and their family. Above all else, family was central to her heart. She worked tirelessly to provide for their son, Dale, whom she loved deeply. May loved her extended family and friends. She loved seeing and being with them. She and niece, Carole, met for lunch at Peddler's Village often to talk about their children. May hosted a Bridesmaids luncheon in Dallas for niece, Betsy. It was held at a lovely antique and tea shop. All bridesmaids and bride were seated, May wasn't there. May arrived soon with several shopping bags, May loved to shop! In later years she enjoyed reminiscing with her nephew, Bill.
May had many friends and loved being with them, although many friends from earlier days are gone, she still has good friends who drop in and visit. Robin and Bill stop often, May always has treats to share. At "Night in Venice" one year family and friends were treated to the Mummers coming to the party, May loved to have fun.
May had a life long love of animals, their dog, Claude, was part of their family for years. While visiting Carole and Bill in Texas, they visited a wildlife park, a llama came right over and kissed her! Joe says she an "Animal Whisperer!"
May leaves a legacy of love and compassion for all of her friends and family.
