Obituary of Oliver Brommer

Dr. Oliver R. Brommer, 93, of Roxborough, died peacefully on March 5 at Hayes Manor Retirement Residence. He served as a devoted and dedicated family physician at Roxborough Memorial Hospital for over 55 years.

Dr. Brommer was a native of Pottsville, Pa, grew up in Braeburn Heights, NJ and was graduated by the Temple University School of Medicine in 1939. He completed an internship at Wilmington General Hospital, Wilmington, DE. He was also Chief Resident Physician at Taylor Hospital, Ridley Park. He served in the military for four and a half years during which he commanded a field hospital at St. Lo, France and England during World War II. He was released from the armed forces in February, 1946. After serving as Chief Resident for a year at Roxborough Memorial Hospital, he started his practice of general medicine on Green Lane in February 1947 where he served the Roxborough community for over 55 years.

Dr. Brommer was the husband of the late Jeannette Brommer, and later, the late Lorraine Forney. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Brommer, and stepchildren, William Forney, Jr. (Gerri), Robert Forney (Jeanine), Lorraine Walker, and John Forney (Maureen) and many step-grandchildren.
