IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul D.
Curran
May 2, 1942 – November 24, 2020
Paul David Curran, 78, of Philadelphia passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. He passed peacefully at home; his devoted wife of 44 years, Marie Curran (nee Linkewicz) was at his side. He was a loving father to Maryte Papadopoulos (John), Teresa Kesterke (James), and Monica Schanbacher (Matthew), and adoring grandfather to Athena, Evangelia, Henry and Eleanor. Paul was born on May 2, 1942 to Thomas and Rita Curran (nee Harbison) and is survived by three sisters, Barbara Merdiushev, JoAnn Fewer, and Marian Curran, and many nieces and nephews. A graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School and Temple University, Paul earned his Master's degree in Public Administration. An avid reader, he loved history and the people and neighborhoods of Philadelphia. In his professional life, he worked for the Philadelphia Planning Commission as an Urban Planner. Paul was assigned to Northwest Philadelphia where he was especially proud to be involved in the development of Manayunk and the now famous Main Street corridor. Paul was known to all as a story teller, although most people believed his stories were factual, his wife and kids always suspected that he was prone to exaggeration. Friends, family and former colleagues will miss his sense of humor and good company. Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a mass at 10:00 am. on Wednesday, December 2,2020. A memorial gathering will be held from 9:30 am to 10:00 am at St. Christopher's Church 13301 Proctor Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19116. (following Covid guidelines). Interment will be private.
