Raymond “Ray” F. Minger, age 85, of Feasterville, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on June 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher, martial arts instructor, United States Army veteran, and classic car enthusiast.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Raymond and Dorothy (née Massi) Minger. He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia “Ginny” Minger, with whom he recently celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage.

Ray was born on July 30, 1940, in Philadelphia, and spent his toddler years in Honolulu, where his father served as a U.S. Navy medic. When Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7, 1941, Ray and his mother were evacuated to California; his father later rejoined the family. After a period living in California, his family moved to Northeast Village, a post-World War II housing development in Philadelphia, where he attended Maternity BVM for elementary and middle school. He later graduated from Father Judge High School (Class of 1958). After graduating from La Salle College in 1963, he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the United States Army and served in South Korea.

While stationed in South Korea, Ray was introduced to Tae Kwon Do. Because of the growing need for teachers, he received an early release from the military and returned home to teach social studies in the Bensalem School District. He retired from teaching after 28 years of service. He earned his master’s degree from Temple University while teaching. Ray founded Minger & Lee’s Tae Kwon Do in 1966, beginning the school in his garage. The school remained in operation for more than 50 years. An enthusiast of antique cars, Ray especially enjoyed tinkering with his classic car collection and participating in car shows with the Philadelphia Modifier Car Club. He was also a long-time member of the St. Christopher’s Parish and the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Association of Philadelphia.

He is also survived by his children, Kim Minger (beloved partner Dennis Dunphy, deceased), Mandy (John) Thomas, Jason Minger, and Melissa (Bill) Rodway; his grandchildren, Madelyn (Joshua) Molyneux, Victoria Rodway, Nate Rodway, Travis Minger, Jack Minger, Tessa Thomas, and Abigail Thomas; and his siblings, Robert (Diane) Minger, John (Angie) Minger, and Joseph (Denise) Minger.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ray’s life on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a prayer service at Kirk and Nice Suburban Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that acts of kindness be performed in his memory.
